Assisted Living Development

Two years after the completion of the Meadowmere Apartments and Mitchell Manor Congregate Care facility in West Allis, Premier Care Centers has added another assisted living apartment building in Kenosha. 

Meadowmere-Southport Apartments derives its name from the original name for the city of Kenosha, the first port south from Milwaukee to Chicago.  The new $5.2 million complex encompasses 62 studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments. The building also houses a medical office that's open to the community as well as Meadowmere-Southport residents. Kenosha has approved Premier's plans for 22 Early Alzheimer's Care units, which will be added to the complex in the next phase of  the development.

Meadowmere-Southport is located adjacent to Beech Pointe Senior Independent Apartments, and across the street from Sheridan Medical Center, a skilled nursing facility. Beech Pointe and Sheridan are independently owned.  

As with the Meadowmere apartments in West Allis, Meadowmere-Southport offers a comfortable environment where spouses or other relatives with less acute health care needs can live close to loved ones requiring skilled nursing. 

With its elder care focus, one of Premier's hallmarks is providing warm, inviting living spaces for its residents. "The building is made to look like a home, not an institution," said Premier partner Ron Glick.  

The apartment building's amenities include a dining room with waiter/waitress service, a country store, a beauty/barber shop, activity areas, a spa, a solarium, and a media center that includes Internet access.  

Glick said, "We're very pleased with Beyer Construction and Wenzler Architects, the way they've worked together with us as a team. We resolve issues in moments, not days, and we like the quality of the finished product."

With the assisted living complex scheduled to open in August, pre-leasing is running ahead of expectations. In addition to the Kenosha and West Allis locations, Premier Care Centers operates similar facilities in Madison, Mequon and Oak Creek.
